I’m Feeling Lucky

Posted by Censor Librorum on Aug 17, 2006 | Categories: Lesbian in a Catholic Sort of Way

People find their way to the CCL web site by many ways, but mostly via search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. Some of the terms used to search: cclonline, catholic lesbians, lesbians and the catholic church, conference for catholic lesbians, catholic gays, lesbian nuns, lesbiennes–make sense. But some others are so weird or unconnected, it has to be a miracle they found their way here. Here’s a sampling from the last few months:

– sees candies weight watchers points
– heaven of lesbians (a “maybe” on this one!)
– salve regina gay
– irish elevator companies
– lesbians doing toilet
– hasidic retreat sydney
– does hemp rope make a creaking sound
– gg rubbing bonobo
– bonobo catholic
– mythology buffalo stampede woman

    The one I prefer is:
    Bonobo catholic.
But shouldn’t it be Catholic bonobo?
Which is the noun and which is the adjective?
Is it catholic lesbian or lesbian catholic?
Are they both nouns? And if so maybe we should put an hyphen, as in Irish-Catholic?
The combination would then become an entity, with a life of its own.
Or are they both adjectives and my real nature is still something else?
    Maybe bonobo? I only wish!

Dear Bonobo fan, thanks so much for writing to me. The next time the Vatican or some traditionalist Catholic prig writes about “natural law” we’ll point them toward the happy natural state of the bonobos. Bonobos of both sexes are similar to humans, especially gay people, in that they engage–and enjoy– sex without procreation. Bonobo females also appear to experience orgasm when they have sex with each other, which is a striking similarity to woman-to-woman sex. Sexual arousal appears to peak near food, which may explain their human relatives’ ubiquitous pattern of “romantic dinners” and in the case of lesbians, the addition of “potluck get-togethers.” At most potlucks, many of the females present will have had sex with others in the room, are currently doing so, or hope to do so if the opportunity presents itself. Does this prevalance of “ex-lovers as friends” have a link to bonobo social sex as bonding, or more to do with our small societies? If male sex is more about power, and female sex is more about connection, then this would make sense. Either way, your girlfriend may not understand your lofty motives, if she catches you trying to “connect”!
