The Big Voice

“The Big Voice: God or Merman?” is a new autobiographical musical about the long-term relationship between Jim Brochu, a Catholic who dreamed of being the first Brooklyn-born Pope, and Steve Schalchlin, a Baptist preacher’s son from Arkansas. Steve grew up torn between the ministry and songwriting; and Jim between priesthood and “theater-queendom.” For both of them, most of their profound spiritual moments happen in theater, not church.

Now playing at The Actor’s Temple Theater, 339 W. 47th Street, New York – $35-55, (212)239-6200.
