Liturgy of the Hours

I ordered a set of the Liturgy of the Hours this weekend. Christine and Lori told me they would teach me how to use it (flipping back and forward from one page to another is going to be confusing until I get the hang of it.)

Since I work from home most days praying twice or seven times will not present a problem. When I do commute into Manhattan I get into the office very early, so I will have the place all to myself for Morning Prayer.

But, I would like to find a parish where Morning Prayer is offered. I participated in a Morning Prayer group during Lent when I was at my old parish in Brooklyn. Praying with the group put me in a in good and calm frame of mind to start the day. I have also participated in Evening Prayer at a local monastery in Tucson when I was there on retreat.

Whether in prayer with people from my parish or complete strangers at the monastery, the wonderful feeling of connectedness to the others through prayer has never left me.

It’s my understanding the 4 volume set is pretty straight forward… the one volume is easy once you get used to it.

    Good luck! E
