George Carlin

George Carlin makes me proud to be Irish Catholic.

I first heard him on an album called “Class Clown” that came out in 1972. It includes four terrific tracks about growing up Catholic: “I Used To Be Irish Catholic,” “The Confessional”, “Special Dispensation – Heaven, Hell, Purgatory And Limbo,” and “Heavy Mysteries.” We played it at school and laughed our heads off–it was so true! The different views of Irish and Italians on penance were especially funny.

George has continued to poke holes in religion since then. His latest, “When Will Jesus Bring the Porkchops?” is banned in Wal-Mart(!) and don’t miss his take on the Ten Commandments. You can hear it on his web site.
