Retro Day
I saw an ad for “Earth Shoes” and decided to go get myself a pair. I remember them from my college days. I hung on to my earth shoe look-a-likes until they finally rotted out in the Alaskan muskeg and I had to throw them away. I moved permanently to boots and forgot about shoes until I had to dress up to work in a NYC office.
Anyway, I hustled up to Harry’s Shoes on West 83rd (my old block on the Upper West Side!) and bought a pair. They feel wonderful, and have replaced my boots!
Thinking about Earth Shoes got me to thinking about my ex-husband and a few other exs along the way. I googled him. My God, he’s gotten old! But I can see him as a young man, full of dreams. Another ex, a former nun from Ohio, looks pretty good! A little touch of grey in her hair, but it only adds to her charm.
